ABU DHABI, 26th February, 2019 (WAM) — The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has welcomed the decision made by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), to establish an advisory board for children.
Al Tayyeb Adam, UNICEF Representative in the Gulf Region, said that the launch of the board is a significant step forward on the path of ensuring the principle of integration enshrined in the Child Rights (Wadeema’s Law).
The Council incentivises all departments in the UAE to motivate children and youngsters to engage in and commit to all issues of relevance to their causes and affairs, he added, underlining the UNICEF’s readiness to provide all types of support to the initiative, which he hailed as a milestone in the UAE’s track record of achievements in the field of child protection and welfare.
