UAE government employees, retirees to get bonus

Abu Dhabi: All federal government employees and retirees of the civil and military sectors, as well as beneficiaries of social welfare services will get a bonus equivalent to one month’s basic salary in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

On Saturday, President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ordered the payment of a basic month’s salary to all federal government employees and retirees. 


The bonuses will be given before Eid Al Fitr and total Dh1.6 billion.

“The UAE and its people celebrate along with the UAE’s residents 100th anniversary of the late Shaikh Zayed. We celebrate this occasion in particular on May 6, the birth anniversary of the founding father,” Shaikh Khalifa said.

“Zayed is the symbol of giving  and he is the one who motivates us to  give and contribute even after his death. Today, 100 years have passed since the birth of Zayed and the UAE will always remain faithful, strong and pioneer thanks to Zayed,” Shaikh Khalifa said.

Bonuses for Dubai government employees

In Dubai, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, on Saturday ordered bonuses equivalent to one month’s salary for all Dubai government employees.

The bonus covers all civil and military as well as retired employees, who will get a maximum of Dh50,000 and a minimum of Dh5,000.

Shaikh Hamdan’s instructions comes in line with Shaikh Khalifa’s directives to grant federal government employees with bonuses.

Shaikh Hamdan has also issued directives to include beneficiaries of the social welfare system provided by Dubai government. 

The bonus will be given before Eid Al Fitr  and in remembrance of Zayed as part of the country’s celebrations of  his 100th birth anniversary 

Meanwhile, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said: “Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed and his brothers are an extension of the late Shaikh Zayed. The 100th birth anniversary of Zayed is indeed a historical and pure Emirati occasion and the UAE people will remain faithful to Zayed’s remembrance as long as there are hearts beating in this generous people. “

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, stressed that Zayed’s 100th birth anniversary is a national and historical occasion where we demonstrate our loyalty and faithfulness to the founding father Shaikh Zayed”.

“The UAE is strong with Zayed’s history and sons. It is strong with Zayed’s values, which are in the veins of every citizen,” Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said.
