ABU DHABI, 26th February, 2019 (WAM) — H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has said that the UAE is keen, according to the vision of its wise leadership, to care for children, based on the principles of positive citizenship and the traditional values of the Emirati community, where justice, equality, protection and participation prevail.
The UAE is also among the first countries to adopt strategies related to childhood, and has made protecting and nurturing children a priority, he added.
In his statement during the introductory meeting of the “Consultative Council for Children,” Sheikh Saif bin Zayed stressed that the initiatives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, are developing strategies for interacting with the ideas and future aspirations of children, and are strengthening the country’s efforts to raise the awareness of children about their rights and duties.
His Highness affirmed that the council is a pioneering initiative launched by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, which involves the participation of children in formulating their future and expressing their opinions, creativities and vision of an inclusive Emirati society, which will provide them with the tools to create real partnerships in planning their future, and developing and realising their talents and ideas.
