River Plate crush Kashima Antlers 4-0, secure bronze at FIFA Club World Cup

ABU DHABI, 22nd December, 2018 (WAM) — Copa Libertadores champion River Plate earned today its first Third Place spot in the FIFA Club World Cup after crushing Asian Champions Kashima Antlers 4-0.

The Argentinians bounced back from their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final disappointment at the hands of the host team Al Ain to record a smooth-sailing victory over their Japanese peers in the match for third place at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.

Goals from Bruno Zuculini, Santos Borre and a farewell brace from Gonzalo Martinez saw the Argentinian side take bronze in Abu Dhabi.

In the meantime, local champions Al Ain are seeking to become the first Arab-Asian club to clinch the prestigious title as they are now taking on Real Madrid who are looking for their third Club World Cup title in a row in Abu Dhabi.
