Rape suspect referred for psychological evaluation

Dubai: A man accused of luring a jobseeker to his residence and attempting to rape her but for a biological problem frustrating him in his attempt, will be admitted to hospital for psychological evaluation.

The 46-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance to the accusation that he forced the 26-year-old jobseeker to strip and attempted to rape her.

The woman reportedly claimed that she met in January with the suspect, who claimed to run a tourism company, and sought to hire her to his firm as an accountant. Then he picked her up, drove her to his villa in Al Rashidiya where he forced her inside, removed her clothes and tried to rape her but failed to do so due to biological reasons.

“The suspect will be admitted to hospital for 15 days for a psychological assessment,” said presiding judge Shaikha Hamad in courtroom three on Sunday.

A medical report is expected to be submitted to court once the medical assessment is concluded. Records said the suspect took the Filipina to his villa while keeping her under the impression that they would wait for other employees to arrive before take all of them together to their company-provided residence.

Once the two entered a room in the villa, the Emirati suspect started touching the Filipina inappropriately and making sexual advances that she rejected.

The woman said she felt scared to resist the man given his size and he forcibly removed her clothes and attempted to rape her. When he failed in his attempt, the suspect beat the woman and forced her to perform bizarre acts.

Attempting to outsmart the Emirati by pretending to be cooperating with him, she discretely tried to call the police from her phone upon which the suspect beat her once again.

When the woman tried to outwit the man a second time, according to records, he beat her hard and grabbed her by the neck. Then he struck her with a stick and yelled at her but, when she yelled back at him, he allowed her to leave the room.

Walking out of the room barefoot, the woman called the police immediately.

Police arrested the suspect at around 4am.

Prosecutors accused the suspect of a rape attempt.

The Filipina testified to prosecutors that she agreed to meet the suspect taking him to be a potential employer because he promised to hire her for a Dh5,500 salary.

“He told me that I will start work the next day … then he drove me to Downtown Dubai and pointed towards Burj Khalifa, that I will work there. He took me to his villa saying that we would be waiting for other co-workers, to drive us later to the company accommodation. Then he attempted to have sex with me but he failed to fulfil his desires. He threatened and beat me,” she told prosecutors.

A police officer who questioned the man said the suspect told him that he agreed to have consensual sex with the woman, whom he had met at a Metro station.
