Punjab CM visits Lahore orphanage, reiterates PTI promises

PTI government determined to serve people, says newly elected chief minister from South Punjab

Islamabad: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar visited a local orphanage, Darul Shafqat, in Lahore after offering prayers on Eid. He distributed Eid gifts to the children.

The chief minister who was accompanied by a number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) MPAs (Member of the Provincial Assembly) visited various sections of the orphanage, met children and staff and spent some time with the little residents.

The chief minister spoke to the children about the facilities being provided at the orphanage, such as food, boarding and lodging. He also instructed the orphanage administration on improving standards. The children also showed Buzdar their academic work, books and drawing sheets, explaining what they were learning.

Besides academics, the orphanage provides them opportunities to play and participate in co-curricular activities, in order to turn them into strong, well-built productive citizens of society.

After the visit, the chief minister also addressed a press conference and reiterated his government’s resolve to root out corruption at all levels in the province. The PTI government, he said, would not tolerate corruption in any state institution. There would be across-the-board accountability and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s reforms agenda would be implemented in the police, civil bureaucracy, local government, education, health and other sectors of social service.

Buzdar also said that ongoing development works would be completed for public welfare.

Reiterating Prime Minister Khan’s commitment, he said all plans announced by the PTI chief would be implemented in letter and spirit. “We know there are problems at all levels and some of them are not going to be resolved soon, but our determination and willpower is equally strong,” he said. “We have formed a number of committees and groups to tackle and resolve each problem according to its magnitude and severity,” Buzdar added.

Chief Minister Buzdar is likely to attend a briefing by all departments on their functioning in next couple of days, as the PTI government has been trumpeting its reforms package since it gained majority in the national and provincial assemblies of Punjab and KP.

It is noteworthy to mention here that Khan came under criticism not only from the party’s outer circles, but also from within over his choice of Buzdar for Punjab chief minister. But Khan promised that Buzdar would deliver and implement PTI’s agenda of ‘One Pakistan’.
