NCEMA organises crisis management lecture

ABU DHABI, 16th April, 2018 (WAM) — The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, NCEMA, has organised a training course at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, titled, ‘Information Management and Strategic Decision-Making in Crisis Management’, as part of its efforts to ensure the readiness of its national emergency teams.

The training course aims to introduce concepts and procedures related to emergency, crisis and disaster management and the mechanism of exchanging information and strategic decision-making in the area of national strategic management during emergencies.

The two-day training course was attended by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Hosny, Director-General of NCEMA, along with directors and under-secretaries of ministries and authorities and officials representing various ministries and federal authorities. The training course was presented by specialists from the British Emergency Planning College, EPC.

Ali Rashid Al Niyadi, Director of the Operations Administration at NCEMA, talked about the stages of emergency, crisis and disaster management, and managing emergencies in national operations centre, as well as the mechanisms of exchanging information and national strategic decision-making, and the roles and responsibilities of individuals and groups from the national emergency and crisis teams.

Michael Wade and Bruce Man from the EPC highlighted the strategic importance of employing qualified national resources in creating an appropriate planning environment, as well as making correct decisions in times of crises and disasters.

The training course also discussed setting and identifying strategic objectives, supporting objectives, analysing potential consequences, and making decisions according to set plans, as well as promoting messages through the media.

The lecturers then spoke about revising the decision-making process to consider potential alternatives and analysed case studies on strategic decision-making.
