ABU DHABI, 15th May, 2018 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, has met with a senior German delegation, which was led by Dr. Andreas Hermann, President of the Interfaith Dialogue, and included Nurhan Soykan, Deputy Chairman of the German Central Council of Muslims, along with several officials responsible for religious dialogue and social integration.
Both sides discussed the cooperation between the UAE and Germany in the areas of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and the acceptance of others while stressing that promoting tolerance locally, regionally and internationally is a cornerstone of the UAE’s policy.
Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the importance of the close cooperation between international organisations in promoting peaceful coexistence and tolerance around the world, as well as the UAE’s desire to provide the suitable conditions for inclusive dialogue, as it believes that understanding others must begin with dialogue. He also praised Dr. Hermann’s role in promoting tolerance.
Sheikh Nahyan explained that the UAE’s wise leadership is following in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in respecting and accepting others and enriching the dialogue between various religions, cultures and nationalities, in light of the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.
Dr. Hermann expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the UAE’s leaders, especially those of Sheikh Nahyan, in supporting tolerance and creating inclusive dialogue. The meeting with Sheikh Nahyan was successful, and they have discussed a range of topics related to cultures and religions and agreed to continue their dialogue to serve peaceful coexistence and respect for religions and cultures, he added.
