Mohammad receives Austrian Chancellor

Mohammad Bin Zayed, Kurz discuss a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday held talks with the Austrian Federal Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, who is on an official visit to the country.

Shaikh Mohammad and the Austrian Chancellor discussed bilateral relations and ways to widen scopes of cooperation in various fields. They also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Held at the Presidential Palace, the talks touched on commercial, economic, tourism and cultural fields.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE-Austria relations are unique and rest on a long history of cooperation and understanding of common interests since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries in 1974.

Shaikh Mohammad added that the state-level visits between the two countries reflect the common interest of their leaders to develop and push forward their relations. He praised the important role played by the UAE-Austrian Joint Committee in expanding cooperation and partnership in the political, economic, commercial and technological fields among others to serve the interest of the two friendly peoples.

“The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to strengthen its partnerships with friendly countries in the world, particularly Austria. This comes within the framework of its policies of diversifying its economy and building a knowledge-based economy as well as attracting foreign investment”, Shaikh Mohammad said.

He stressed that the development witnessed by the UAE-Austrian relations during the past years, especially in trade and cooperation in energy and technology fields pave the way for further growth in these relations in the future.

He also expressed his confidence that Kurz’s visit to the UAE will give a strong boost to the UAE-Austria future relations.

Earlier in the day, an official reception was held upon Chancellor Kurz’s arrival, where the national anthem of Austria was played, along with the 21-gun salute presented to the distinguished guest.

The chancellor was greeted by a number of senior UAE officials, while Shaikh Mohammad greeted the senior officials accompanying Kurz.
