Dubai: A tourist in Dubai accumulated Dh170,000 in speeding fines within three hours as he drove 240 km/h on Shaikh Zayed Road.
The visitor rented a Lamborghini Huracan worth Dh1.3 million on July 30, and by July 31, was caught by all the radars on Shaikh Zayed Road from 2.30am-6am, as well as one on Qarn Al Sabkha Road.
The owner of the rental office told the Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm that the fines were all issued against the vehicle, and not the driver, and that the rental company were obliged to pay off the excessively high traffic fines.
The speed cameras caught 12 violations, which recorded the reckless motorist driving over 200 km/h, while the remaining traffic offences included driving from 150-200 km/h.
