Private Turkish plane travelling from UAE to Istanbul crashes in Iran with 11 people on board
Dubai: A private Turkish plane flying from Sharjah to Istanbul crashed in southwestern Iran on Sunday, killing 11 people onboard, Isna news agency quoted a Civil Aviation spokesman as saying.
An emergency services spokesman was quoted by state TV as saying the plane crashed in a mountainous area and caught fire.
The plane reportedly went down near the city of Shahr-e Kord, about 400 kilometres south of Tehran, it reported.
“We can confirm that a Turkish private jet … while passing through our airspace disappeared from the radar and crashed near Shahr-e Kord,” Civil Aviation Oganisation spokesman Reza Jafarzadeh told state television.
