My husband’s company recently provided me with health insurance in Dubai, but it is very basic. I wish to have another policy so I can visit better hospitals. What does the UAE law say in this case? YB, Dubai.
Under Dubai Health Authority (DHA) rules it is permitted for people to have two medical insurance plans running concurrently and this is not uncommon where a person would like more comprehensive cover than that offered by the scheme put in place by the employer. When a claim is made, however, it can only be from one of the policies and “double claiming” would invalidate the terms and conditions of both policies.
