Integrated Transport Center Signs an Agreement with Careem in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 29th May 2018 (WAM) – The Integrated Transport Center (ITC) in Abu Dhabi signed an agreement with Careem Transport Network Company. The company uses technology to facilitate its customer’s mobility.

ITC was represented by Mohammed Darwish Al Qamzi, General Manager, ITC, and Bassel Al Nahlaoui, Managing Director of the Gulf Region of Careem. The press conference took place in DoT HQ in Abu Dhabi.

This initiative supports the Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision that aims to fulfill the customers’ demands to find smart and transport solutions in order to support the endeavors to create an integrated and sustainable transport network according to international practices. Customers will enjoy transport services using luxury cars and limousines via different communications modes and electronic channels and smart applications according to the Hire Cars and Limousines Regulations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

“This agreement comes as part of DoT’s endeavor to fulfill the leadership’s prospects to make Abu Dhabi a pioneer in the field of smart transport, globally, which is a key factor in smart cities,” Al Qamzi stated.

“According to the agreement, Careem will transport the passengers within or outside the Emirate using licensed private or public hire cars. The passenger may call for reserving a car or use smart applications. This service follows the Hire Cars and Limousines Regulations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi like dealing with licensed cars and licensed drivers that is supervised by the ITC. The Center regulates the activities of hire cars and issue permits to practice it.”

Al Qamzi noted that the agreement with Careem offers distinguished options to the residents of Abu Dhabi and its visitors to transport using hire cars and limousines to fulfill their demands. Careem will also offer full and part time employment opportunities to locals and children of Emirati mothers as they are allowed to use their personal vehicles in accordance with the Center’s regulations. Al Qamzi assured that this initiative aims to develop the partnership with the private sector and provide the customers with smart services.

“We are striving to work with the ITC to facilitate services for Careem users in order to make our innovative solutions more suitable for the life in Abu Dhabi,” stated Al Nahlaoui.

“We follow a mutual vision to cooperate in coming up with suitable solutions to fulfill the transport demand and make Abu Dhabi the smartest city globally by adopting international standards in the transport field.”
