Government-backed firms lent their weight to efforts to promote “smart” services in the country at a conference in Dubai on Monday.
Over 25 government entities, including the Insurance Authority, Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Financial Market, Fujairah e-Government and the Planning Department of Ajman, are exhibiting their smart government services at the three-day Smart Government Exhibition and Conference at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which concludes on Wednesday.
Abu Dhabi Media companies, including The National, were among a series of government and media partners honoured by organisers.
Abu Dhabi Media, Al Ittihad newspaper and Abu Dhabi TV were all honoured for their support of and partnership with numerous smart government initiatives throughout the country.
“Such recognition gives us full support to continue giving coverage to matters relating to smart government across the country,” said Abdul Raheem Ebrahim Al Bateeh, Abu Dhabi Media’s Executive Director of Communications and Government Relations.
“We fully support such smart government initiatives, which are providing great services to locals and expatriates alike. We will keep on supporting the government as they strive to reach high standards of smart government over the coming five years and beyond.”
Several government entities including the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and the Ministry of Finance also received recognition at the presentation ceremony.
