KUWAIT, 30th April, 2018 (WAM) — A Federal National Council, FNC, parliamentary division participated in the second meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, parliamentary committee in charge of promoting ties with the European Parliament, which was held at the Kuwaiti National Assembly on 29th and 30th April, 2018, and was attended by the members of parliaments of GCC countries.
The UAE delegation included Salem Obaid Al Shamsi and Hamad Ahmed Al Rahoumi, as well as Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the FNC.
The participants reviewed a report on the work of the committee, discussed its statute and the remarks of the UAE delegation, and suggested amendments.
Al Shamsi highlighted the importance of the committee’s work to brief the European Parliament about the position of GCC countries on various regional and internal topics of mutual concern, as well as the strategic importance of their security, stability and development, and the exchange of parliamentary experience with the European Parliament, which will be reflected by the development of legislative practices and the parliamentary cooperation between both sides, as well as by greater regional and international support for the issues and positions of GCC countries.
