“We reaffirm our commitment towards the national initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to dedicate the year 2018 to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Corporate Social Responsibility is a part of our regular sustainable business initiative and we support all programmes and initiatives which aim at making the UAE one of the leading countries in the world,” said Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

“We are keen to reflect the legacy of Sheikh Zayed, the symbol of wisdom and giving, through launching a series of initiatives and projects that support communities. As Sheikh Zayed once said, ‘The UAE’s greatest asset is its people’, we aim to underpin his role in building the UAE, and his legacy of giving to people and environment and his achievements locally and globally,” he added.

“Sheikh Zayed’s approach towards giving is deeply instilled in the country’s fundamentals, which is rightly upheld by the UAE’s leadership as well its people. Federal Decree No. 02 of 2018, issued by the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on corporate social responsibility of companies and establishments will contribute to enhancing the role of public and private organisations, and overall development of our society.

This decree will radically transform the societal roles played by organisations, moving them from the role of contributor to the role of initiator, in CSR projects and programmes. It will also have a positive impact on the individuals, as well as the national economy. Empower strives to establish CSR values among its employees and customers by introducing several CSR initiatives and programmes,” Bin Shafar continued.
