Emirates has expanded its international sports footprint after signing a deal to be the official airline sponsor of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
The deal is the airline’s first entry in professional baseball. The airline will open a lounge at the team’s home stadium and the Dodgers will lend their name to Dubai’s Little League team.
Emirates has already made its mark in the world of sport, mainly through its football sponsorship, where its deals include AC Milan, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Olympiacos, Hamburger, and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Dubai carrier has also expanded its presence in tennis with a sponsorship portfolio that includes the US Open, the Emirates Airline US Open Series, the Australian Open, the Emirates Airline Australian Open Series as well as the French Open.
Emirates first launched services between Dubai and Los Angeles in 2008 with a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. As demand grew, it began flying the A380 aircraft to serve LA travellers, and starting July 1 it will add a second daily A380 service, offering a total of 980 seats per day flying from Los Angeles International Airport to Dubai.
