Dubai: What’s better than hot tea and great company?
Knowing that you’ve made history.
And people who flocked to Global Village on Thursday had just such an experience when 120 chefs got together to brew the largest cup of karak chai in the world.
Blending together spices such as ginger and cinnamon, the chefs – who began their task at 4am – filled a cup that was of 3.66m high, and took the Guinness World Records title.
They then shared their joy, along with cups full of tea with their audience, managing to distribute the warm drink to more than 45,000 people.
BY THE NUMBERS
The tea cup on display is 3.6 metres tall and held 4,500 litres of the brew.
The cup will be available for viewing until February 1.
To achieve this difficult target, the used vast amounts of water.
These are just some of the numbers involved in making the humongous serving of tea possible: 155kg of tea powder, 300kg of milk powder, 380kg of sugar, 7.5kg of cloves, 155kg of ginger, 47kg of cinnamon sticks and 47kg of cardamom powder.
