DUBAI, 6th August, 2018 (WAM) — The Dubai Municipality today signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Health and Safety Executive of Great Britain, HSE, to develop and share knowledge related to occupational health and safety systems, as well as to draft and implement relevant regulations.
The MoU was signed by Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Executive Director of the Environment, Health and Safety Control Sector, and Mike Day, Commercial Director of the HSE.
Al Awadhi said that the ongoing cooperation between the municipality and local and international authorities in developing relevant practices will contribute to the exchange of experiences and knowledge, especially in health and safety, to take advantage of the successful experiences of these organisations, highlight further opportunities to develop related procedures, and provide services in line with the latest international standards.
He added that the MoU, which is valid for three years, will promote the exchange of information on regulatory activities, occupational safety, health practices and mutual visits, as well as the participation of staff and experts in conferences, symposia, seminars and events, which will help enrich local knowledge and jointly fund relevant research.
Day praised the HSE’s cooperation with the municipality while stressing that the MoU is part of the HSE’s plans to share its expertise and experiences with various cities around the world.
He expressed his hope that the MoU will generate tangible solutions to issues related to health and safety, especially regarding regulations and legislation.
