Dubai-based jewellery group donates Dh1.2m for Ockhi relief

Funds to help rehabilitate victims of cyclone in Kerala

Dubai: Joyalukkas, a Dubai-based jewellery group, donated nearly Dh1.12 million (Rs20 million) towards the relief funds for the victims of Ockhi cyclone that severely affected the coastal areas of southern Kerala last month.

The group donated approximately Dh560,000 each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Welfare Fund instituted by the Thiruvananthapuram Archbishop. In separate functions held in Thiruvananthapuram, Joy Alukkas, chairman, Joyalukkas group, handed over the cheques to Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, and Archbishop Dr M. Soosa Pakiam. The gesture has been the outcome of the visits by the representatives of Joyalukkas Foundation in the affected areas. The foundation has also decided to help the victims further if needed.
