Department of Transport participates at UITP MENA Congress

ABU DHABI, 23rd April, 2018 (WAM) — The Department of Transport, DoT, in Abu Dhabi is participating at the Middle East and North Africa Congress organised by the International Union of Public Transport, UITP, as one of the main sponsors.

The event is running in Dubai between 23rd to 25th April, under the slogan ‘Pioneering in the Happiness of Customers’, with the participation of many representatives from different countries along with transport experts. The Congress today discussed number of issues related to the transport network and road safety.

DoT’s participation is part of the Department’s plan to promote for the World Road Congress that Abu Dhabi is going to host in 2019. Winning the right to host the congress is an indication of the prestigious status of Abu Dhabi and the belief in its capability to host big events. That is in addition to the appreciation of the International Road Federation, IFR, to Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts to offer transport infrastructure that is designed according to international standards.

The World Road Congress in Abu Dhabi, which will be held in October 2019, is expected to be attended by 5,000 to 7,000 delegates and representatives of government and private sectors in number of countries participating. DoT will cooperate and coordinate with other partners to offer all the requirements needed to assure the success of the event.

To that regard, DoT continues to contact other participating entities that are concerned with surface transport from different parts of the world to exchange knowledge and experience. Additionally, introducing the latest technologies related to the modern transport network and smart systems. This is in aim to support a developed infrastructure that enhances the road safety, contributes in decreasing the number of accidents and improves the level of services offered to the society.
