Works with Head of External Communications in support of the overall external communications agenda of enhancing the Alshaya brand and corporate reputation. Focused on delivering a positive flow of corporate news and information to media, supporting senior management stakeholder engagement (governments, NGO, communities, etc) and providing a robust media relations/editorial content support and review service for the brands.
Key Performance Areas:
Contribute to development of annual External Communications (‘comms) plan, delivering and reporting on all plan elements within Area of Responsibility
Manage Alshayas press office: Managing media enquiries and story sell-in, building media relationships and maintaining up to date knowledge of media landscape – escalating where necessary to senior team
Oversee and co-ordinate Alshayas Corporate Content calendar – developing /placing stories on all external channels which reinforce Alshayas growth story and enhance its reputation and ensuring integration with internal team
Collaborate closely with CMC colleagues and other internal stakeholders as required to optimise impact of messaging
Lead responsibility for Alshaya.com – managing performance, content plan and ongoing site evolution
Ensuring all Alshaya core messaging is up to date and consistent on all channels (English and Arabic)
Manage brand PR content review process, ensuring team are able to provide effective advice and a timely review service in English and Arabic within target SLA – allocate resource and escalate where necessary to senior team
Work with brand teams / CMC to manage the quality, and impact and value for money of editorial content and activity (all channels)
Effective project management of PR events that involve the Alshaya brand (e.g. new mall/brand openings, corporate initiatives, stakeholder events, etc) – working with brand teams, stakeholders (eg. C-suite, ministries, universities, etc), media and suppliers as necessary.
Review and clear all agency briefs (approach, messages, price) and assess agency performance in partnership with brand teams
Manage review and approval process for all CSR initiatives, engaging with local community and other stakeholders, including CEO
Provide support on crisis/issues management as necessary.
Ensure focused, timely delivery of corporate media monitoring reports and insights (print and online)
Ensure all processes and guidance within AOR are up to date and relevant
Champion a culture of customer service
Effective management of direct reports and other team members within matrix-based structure – supporting skills and employee development
Essential Skills: Written and spoken Arabic; knowledge of local culture and government
