DUBAI, 8th April, 2018 (WAM) — Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, has commended the cabinet’s decisions to approve AED11 billion in social assistance for all low-income groups over the next three years.
“The decisions made today by the cabinet under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, add to our determination to forge ahead with our drive to develop more innovative solutions and initiatives aimed at ensuring social welfare and economic wellbeing for all our citizens,” the minister added.
In total, the Cabinet today approved AED11 billion of social assistance for all low-income groups over the next three years as follows: AED3.88 billion in social assistance for the elderly; AED1.55 billion for those with a financial and health deficit; AED1.7 billion for “people of determination”; and AED183.9 million for families of prisoners, in addition to AED931.7 million for other categories, as part of the federal government’s social assistance plan.
These solutions are aimed at providing efficient social empowerment programmes based on buttressing up the role of both the private and public sectors in ensuring comprehensive social development and enabling low-income segments of society, she added.
