Ahmed bin Mohammed meets President of Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee

DUBAI, 3rd May, 2018 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, has said that enhancing cooperation with all representatives of the Olympic Movement is a key priority for the UAE’s National Olympic Committee, NOC.

His Highness said that the UAE has developed a supportive environment for athletes and provides high quality sports facilities equipped with the best equipment to help them achieve the best results.


Sheikh Ahmed’s statements came during a meeting with the President of Uzbekistan’s National Olympic Committee Umid Akhmatdjanov today in Dubai. The meeting was also attended by First Vice President of UAE NOC, Humaid Al Qutami; Vice President of UAE Sports Authority and Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Hareb; and Assistant Secretary-General of UAE Sports Authority, Abdul Mohsen Al Dosari.

Members of the UAE NOC Executive Committee also attended the meeting including Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raysi; Major General Ismail Al Gergawi; Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Sulayem; Chairman of UAE Football Association‎ Marwan Ahmad bin Ghalita, and President of UAE and Asian Cycling Federation Osama Ahmed Abdullah Al Shafar.

During the meeting, Sheikh Ahmed and his counterpart discussed various issues related to the Olympics and ways to enhance collaboration between the two NOCs. They also discussed ways to exchange expertise in the sports sector.

Sheikh Ahmed also discussed the main sports events that will take place over the next few months including the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in the UAE, the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia, and the 3rd Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Uzbekistan’s National Olympic Committee President described the discussions as fruitful and hoped that they will help boost collaboration between the two NOCs. He said the UAE has made a mark in the area of global sports events thanks to the unique infrastructure it offers. He said the UAE is capable of hosting any event successfully.
