AED3.8 mn in seed grants received by UAE University

AL AIN, 1st May, 2018 (WAM) — The UAE University, UAEU, has received seed grants of over AED 3.8 million to fund 16 research projects, announced Professor Mohamed Albaili, Vice Chancellor of the UAEU.

He added that the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, ADEK, offered AED2.4 million to fund 11 research projects while Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organisation dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research, provided AED1.43 million to finance five research projects.

He noted that the UAEU has a proven record in scientific research that contributed to national sustainable development and state’s efforts to explore the future.

The UAEU, he said, is applying scientific research to nurture innovation, qualify Emirati professionals and provide scientific consultancy in alignment with UAE Vision 2021.

Al Jalila Foundation’s seed grants focus on five research priorities: cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and mental health.
