Abu Dhabi Executive Council to honour winners of 5th Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance

ABU DHABI, 29th January, 2018 (WAM) — The General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council will honour winners of the fifth Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance, during its closing ceremony that will be held on Wednesday at Qasr Al Emarat Hotel in Abu Dhabi, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and President of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

During the award’s fifth cycle, 52 Abu Dhabi government authorities will compete for the main award category, as well as the award for hubs and key criteria award, while 110 employees and 42 Director Generals will compete for 12 “President of the Executive Council” medals.


The Abu Dhabi Government Excellence Award is one of the mechanisms adopted by the Abu Dhabi government to support the emirate’s culture of institutional excellence. Its fifth cycle will witness many updates and challenges that will comply with the emirate’s development and contribute to improving its institutional working procedures, as well as raise institutional performance and quality and create a spirit of positive competition in the government sector.

The award was adopted as a basis of assessing participating government authorities, with the aim of identifying their level of performance when leading in their key tasks and services. The award will also focus on the performance of the authorities in their key tasks and accredited indicators and in meeting government requirements, in line with the plan to make the Abu Dhabi government a modern future government.

The award’s goals include enhancing government work and services and establishing the foundations of innovative standards, as well as focussing on successful outcomes through the three key pillars of vision, innovation and institutional flexibility, to achieve high satisfaction rates and community happiness.

The award also considers the different types of work of various authorities, by identifying the appropriate standards and performance levels in their use of resources and ongoing pursuit of knowledge and development. It also focusses on their completion of their key tasks and relevant government requirements.
