UAE’s lowest temperatures touch 11.7 degrees Celsius

Dubai: Early mornings are getting cooler in the UAE as the official start to winter is drawing closer.

Minimum temperatures in some parts of the country trended downwards to 11.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to the latest weather bulletin.

Lower temperature levels are a welcome respite from the UAE’s hot, dry and humid days of summer, when the mercury rises above 40 degrees Celsius.

The lowest reading for the day was recorded at the Jais Mountain, the highest peak in UAE, at 2:30 am, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported.

Early mornings in the UAE’s highest mountain range, Jais Mountain, is getting chilly, with temperatures touching just a little over 11 degrees Celsius.

In other areas, temperatures hovered above 12 to 16 degrees Celsius.

At 6am, temperatures in  the Mebreh mountain in Ras Al Khaimah stood at 12.6 degrees, while other places like Damtha, Rakhan and Ashaab woke up to temperatures of 14.4, 15.1 and 16.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The rest of the day will be fair to partly cloudy, especially in the western regions, but moderate to fresh winds will blow in dust or sand over exposed locations.

Southeasterly to northeasterly winds  will be moving at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometres per hour on average, hitting a maximum of 42 kilometres per hour at times.

Waters in the coastal areas, particularly in the Arabian Gulf, will be rough and moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.
