ABU DHABI, 5th September, 2018 (WAM) — The Board of Directors of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, FANR, held its fourth meeting of the current year, to present the latest developments with regards to its operational plan and current initiatives.
The board discussed the updates to a request for an operating licence for the first and second units of the Barakah Nuclear Plant project in Al Dhafra Region, as well as the inspection of the plant, to ensure its compliance to safety and security standards and safeguards, as required by the authority.
The board also discussed an agreement set to be signed with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission on conducting research, studies, education and training.
The board approved the renewal of a five-year cooperation arrangement with the French Nuclear Safety Authority to exchange technical information and promote cooperation in monitoring nuclear safety and radiation prevention.
The board also reviewed the authority’s second quarter performance and discussed the outcome of its Happiness and Positivity Study while stressing the importance of ensuring the happiness and well-being of its employees, by adopting relevant policies and initiatives.
