DUBAI, 26th June, 2018 (WAM) — The Dubai Sports Council, DSC, discussed the means of strengthening its sporting cooperation with Poland, to develop the local sports sector and organise more meetings between Emirati and Polish teams, as well as exchange visits and host camps.
The discussion took place during a meeting between Mattar Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of the DSC, and Robert Rostek, Ambassador of Poland to the UAE, with the attendance of Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the DSC, Moza Al Marri, Board Member of the DSC, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary-General of the DSC, and Sara Al Sayegh, Director of Corporate Communication and Marketing at the DSC.
The meeting highlighted the importance of the cooperation between both sides, especially as the UAE is celebrating the Year of Zayed to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Poland is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of its independence.
Al Tayer stated that the UAE has prioritised sports, which has become part of the Emirati lifestyle while adding that sporting cooperation can be strengthened between countries that aim to develop their sporting sectors, such as Poland, which shares the same goals and visions with the UAE.
He also highlighted the DSC’s efforts to realise their joint goals, which will benefit both sides and help develop community and competitive sports.
Rostek explained his country’s support for its sports sector and the potential cooperation between the UAE and Poland in many sporting areas, as well as its desire to exchange visits, camps and expertise. He then invited Al Tayer and a DSC delegation to visit Poland, to review the development of its sporting establishments and help organise various competitions, as well as to meet with local sports officials to discuss cooperation.
In December, Dubai will host the first Handball Super Cup, which will feature Poland’s handball champion team and a team from Barcelona. The championship will be held in cooperation with a Polish organiser for five years in Dubai, under the umbrella of the International Handball Federation.
