Driver cleared of making boy touch him under water

Suspect said he mistakenly hit boy’s chest while swimming as court acquits him over lack of evidence

Dubai: A driver has been cleared of molesting a teenaged swimmer and making him touch his private parts under water at Jumeirah Beach.

The 15-year-old boy’s Kyrgyz mother reported to the police that while spending a family day at the beach, she spotted the 27-year-old Pakistani driver swimming behind her son, who was swimming away from him in March.

The mother claimed that when her son came out of the water, he told her that the driver had made him touch his private parts while swimming.

The suspect taken into custody after the mother called the police. Citing lack of substantiated evidence, the Dubai Court of First Instance acquitted the Pakistani suspect of any wrongdoing after he pleaded not guilty.

“I did not molest him …. I touched his chest by mistake while I was swimming beside him,” he argued before the court.

The Kyrgyz mother alleged in her statement that she went to spend a day at the beach with her parents and son.

“My parents remained sitting on beach side and my son went into the sea for a swim … I was walking on the beachside when I saw my son swimming away from the suspect. He walked and swam constantly and it was obvious that he was trying to stay away from the man. Once he came out of the water, he told me that the suspect had made him touch his private parts under water. When I asked the man why he molested my son, he didn’t respond and absconded,” she claimed.

A policeman, who questioned the driver following his arrest from the beach, claimed that the suspect denied making the boy touch him.

“He claimed that his hand unintentionally hit the boy’s chest while swimming beside him. I could not hear the boy’s statement since he only speaks Russian,” said the policeman.

The court acquitted the suspect and the judgement has become final.
