Dozens of ‘Israeli rockets’ fired into Syria

Syria state media claims Israeli missiles shot down after Israel says Iranian forces fired rockets at Golan

Beirut: Syrian state news agency SANA reported that Syrian air defences had brought down “tens of Israeli rockets over Syrian skies” early on Thursday.

It earlier cited a Syrian military spokesman as saying Israeli was targeting Syria with rocket fire.

Earlier, the Israeli army said Iranian forces in Syria fired around 20 rockets and missiles at Israeli army positions in the part of the Golan Heights occupied by Israel.

The missiles, some which were intercepted by Israel’s anti-missile system, did not cause any casualties and the Israeli army responded, army spokesman lieutenant-colonel Jonathan Conricus told journalists, without giving details on the Israeli retaliation.

Syrian state media reported air defences confronted Israeli rockets on Syrian territories without specifying the location.
