Department of Transport hosts ‘Forum for Strategic Partners in the Land Transport Sector 2019’

ABU DHABI, 2nd May, 2019 (WAM) — The Department of Transport has hosted the “Forum for Strategic Partners in the Land Transport Sector 2019,” with the attendance of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Department of Transport, and several officials from government authorities and private companies.

The forum, which was held at the Bab Al Bahr Fairmont Hotel in Abu Dhabi was attended by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Energy, the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Airports, Al Dar Properties, the Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, EAD, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime, FTA, the Statistics Centre − Abu Dhabi, SCAD, the Ministry of Education, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Emirates Transport, ET, the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, and Etihad Rail, along with other government and private authorities, and strategic partners from the public and private sectors.

The forum is part of the department’s efforts to enhance its cooperation with its strategic partners, which will improve the quality of its services and support local development.

During the forum’s opening session, Ibrahim Sarhan Al Hamoudi, Acting Executive Director of the Surface Transport Sector at the Department of Transport, made a detailed presentation on the emirate’s land transport system and its strategic plan to develop the transportation sector.

Al Hamoudi highlighted the importance of the department’s cooperation with its partners to achieving the strategic transport-related goals of the Abu Dhabi Vision, through providing integrated and sustainable transportation services, in line with the emirate’s economic, environmental and social development plans.

He also explained the goals of the department to reduce traffic congestion, improve the local transportation system, ensure security and safety, provide comfortable world-class transportation and help advance Abu Dhabi’s economy.
