DCT Abu Dhabi concludes ‘Abu Dhabi Golf Tourism Week’

ABU DHABI, 10th May, 2018 (WAM) — The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), in partnership with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), and key golf stakeholders, recently concluded the first Abu Dhabi Golf Tourism Week event, which took place from the 29th April until 3rd May at key hotels and attractions across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The five-day event welcomed current and prospective golf tour operators supported by significant media coverage from 15 countries across Europe and Asia to the UAE capital to showcase Abu Dhabi as a destination of distinction and outline its unique offerings, in particular the Championship Golf.

Abu Dhabi is very proud to have four unique yet complementary Championship golf courses to offer; Abu Dhabi Golf Club hosts the European Tour every January, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club is home to the Faldo Series, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is designed by the famous Gary Player and is the host venue to the Ladies European Tour, whilst Yas Links has been ranked No.46 in the world by Golf Digest USA.

Mubarak Al Nuaimi, Director, Promotion and Overseas Offices Department at DCT Abu Dhabi, said, “Through these events, we aim to strengthen and promote the capital as a premier golfing destination and educate tour operators across the globe about Abu Dhabi’s luxurious golf courses and its other world-class offerings.”

Across five days, the attendees visited several of Abu Dhabi’s unique locations, including Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and the Al Ain region. Operators were also provided with special guided tours to Louvre Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Qasr Al Muwaiji, whilst also experiencing the Yas Viceroy, which overlooks the Formula 1 race circuit, and enjoying relaxation time on the pristine sands of Saadiyat Beach.

Key hotel stakeholders in addition to DCT Abu Dhabi and ADSC included The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas, Crowne Plaza Yas Island and Al Ain Rotana. Host venues included Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Yas Links Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club.

The next Abu Dhabi Golf Tourism Week is set to take place in early 2019.
