: Controller , Corporate Performance management and Capital allocation – OCTAL SAOC FZC – Oman

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Specialist’s role is

·         To assist the Chief Performance and Risk Officer in the management of the Corporate performance plan of the group

·         To assist in the effective implementation of business performance strategies and the management of corporate performance measurement process by tracking progress, analyzing operations and projects performance and provide educated recommendations to the CPRO.

To manage directly the Capital Allocation process of the group


Key responsibilities and activities:


Performance Management

·Designs the Corporate performance management system in collaboration with CPRO based on the company’s strategic plan

oSet of indicators

§ Oversee the development of corporate scorecards to measure and track performance.  

§ In coordination with HR, ensures the cascading of the corporate scorecard into functional scorecards and ensures close coordination with business unit heads in finalizing the scorecard, measures and targets in alignment with the strategy. 

§ Reviews the corporate scorecards to reflect any changes to the strategy

o Weekly / monthly reports

o Routine of interaction with concerned managers

·Conducts the implementation of the Corporate performance management system

oCoaching of the managers whenever required

o Daily / weekly / monthly execution of the pre-defined routine

o Regular interactions with managers in order to assess progress, to identify hurdles, to raise early alerts in case of gap versus expected in departmental performance

o Consolidates and controls Octal’s corporate KPIs in collaboration with field controllers

o Contributes to the preparation of / prepares regular reports as per pre-defined routine and ad-hoc reports whenever required

·Identifies potential improvements in terms of performance and/or internal control, proposes and implements / helps implementing necessary operational changes

·Provides synthetic view of Group performance and contributes to prepare forecast or budget

· Attends management meetings, formalizes minutes and controls execution of the to-do list

·Escalate unresolved issues and ensures resolution of escalated issues. 



Key responsibilities and activities:

Capital Allocation

·Conducts and consolidates budget / Business Plan Capex, in relation with sales and Manufacturing

·Manages the capital allocation process

oDrives the investment committee as per the corresponding charter

oReviews / Controls the Capital Authorization Request prepared by project leaders (consistency with business plan, feasibility, assumptions, payback/ROIC…)

oReviews the quality of the presentation to the investment committee prior to the meetings

oModerates the meetings of the investment committee and ensure they are conclusive

oFormalizes minutes and decisions taken

·Maintains a detailed and up-dated project follow-up, extracted from SAP + manual information whenever required, and makes sure SAP is gradually used 100%

·Prepares and submit to Management a monthly progress report by project (budget, commitments, decisions, spent so far, timeline, delays in execution…) for the group

·Prepares and submit to Management a Retex (return of experience) report with a specific focus on “lessons learned”

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

·Graduate degree in Finance or MBA

·Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment

·Prior exposure required with both sales and manufacturing, credibility in both fields required

Language & Computer Literacy

·         Proficient in English, including synthetic writing skills

·         Advanced Computer literacy and Microsoft office

·         Proficient and fully autonomous in SAP

·         Proficient and fully autonomous in Excel
