AUS hosts global experts at 6th ICWEE

SHARJAH, 26th March, 2019 (WAM) — Distinguished academics and experts from more than 20 countries assembled at the sixth International Conference on Water, Energy and Environment, ICWEE 2019, at the American University of Sharjah, AUS, to discuss matters related to energy, water and the environment.

The three-day conference, held under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of AUS, kicked off today, providing an important platform to faculty, students, engineers and managers to learn about the latest trends and share research in the environment conservation sector.

During the conference, industry experts and eminent guest speakers will address recent research results, as well as present and discuss issues related to water regulation and policies, water resources and sustainable development of the region, progress in water protection and remediation, desalination, wastewater treatment, energy, environmental impact, economic management and development of water resources, environment and other water-related topics.

Welcoming delegates to ICWEE, Dr. Naif Darwish, Acting Dean of the AUS College of Engineering and Professor of Chemical Engineering, said, “Water and energy conservation are extremely important topics and I look forward to the many papers and presentations to be featured at this event.”

The event will see 117 papers and posters chosen to be presented at the conference, after the review process. Selected research papers will be published in a number of international journals such as Desalination and Water Treatment, and Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science.

Leading practitioners, policy makers and researchers from the UAE, US, Singapore, will be delivering keynote lectures during the conference.
