Duties and Responsibilities:
3.1 Provide direct nursing care to patients on a shift by shift basis.
3.2 Prepare plan of care for each patient using nursing process, patient’s needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
3.3 Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures, as necessary for the care of the patient.
3.4 Evaluates the identi fied problems, care provided, and patients’ responses are reassessed, in order to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
3.5 Completing a full nursing assessment and any related orders within 12 hour shift.
3.6 Provides health education to the patient and relatives.
7 Demonstrates knowledge and skills in handling and proper storage,
administration, documentation of medications.
3.8 Maintains confidentiality of patient’s illness and care.
3.9 Protects patients’ confidentiality in accordance with the hospital policy.
3.10 Demonstrates knowledge and skills of the hospital policies and procedures.
3. I l Documents and reports all accidents incidents to team leader/ charge nurse/ head nurse.
3.12 Informs the team leader/ charge nurse/head nurse of any changes in circumstances which affect the standards of care.
3.13 Assists in the formation of nursing care standards/ policies and supports the head nurse and unit staff in its implementation.

3.14 Ensures that infection control practices are adhered to in accordance with approved Infection Control Policies
3.15 Handling critically ill patients that need 1 : 1/1 :2 nursing care.
3.16 Handling patients for Cardiac Catheterization and providing care pre and post operative.
3.17 Handling patients for Dialysis, Perm-Catheter insertion and providing care pre and post operative.
3. 18 Ensures that equipments are properly working.
3.19 Ensures that the usage of supplies is in cost effective and responsible manner and ensures enough supplies are available in the unit.
3.20 Assumes accountability for quality care delivered to patients.
3.21 Acts as a preceptor for junior and new staff and participates in orientation and development programs.
3.22 Ensures that the students and temporary staff allocated to the ward have appropriate orientation, teaching and support in accordance with their curricular objectives and reports any matter of concern to the head
nurse/ charge nurse.
3.23 Takes responsibilities for his/her own professional conduct and growth.
3.24 Behaves in a professional manner at all times.
3.25 Takes charge of the unit in the absence of the person responsible as required or requested.
3.26 Participates in the on-going training and development program of the department/ unit.
3.27 Complies with quality improvement and facilitates change where appropriate.
3.28 Participates in TQM activities
